Salzburg
Salzburg is the capital of the federal state of Salzburg and is found at the banks of the River Salzbach located at the northern border of the Alps. It is the fourth largest city in Austria and is the birthplace of the renowned composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The city’s astounding sceneries can be seen in some parts of the musical Sound of Music. Salzburg has been one of the most popular destinations of tourists throughout the year since the city looks different in each season. The city was also successful in preserving the city’s natural beauty, so tourists can truly enjoy its spectacular sights.
The Old Town, which lies in the shadows of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site. It is here that Mozart was born. The Old Town is also home to Baroque architecture that has been preserved by the city. Located outside the Old Town are the Palace of Mirabell, Hellbrunn, and the Palace of Leopoldskron. The Palace of Mirabell boasts of its colorful garden, while Hellbrunn has parks and castles that tourists can tour. The Palace of Leopoldskron is a national monument that is found in the southern locality of Salzburg. Tourists can also visit the Schloss Klessheim, which was once used by Adolf Hitler and is now converted into a casino.
